This being the year of the horse and one of my favorite subjects to draw and paint, I thought I’d create a few artworks celebrating the horse in the coming months. This came from photos I’ve taken at our annual agricultural fair. I spend most of my time wandering around the barns admiring the animals and watching the various horse shows and animal related events. I’m not much of a “midway” kind of person other than to get my annual dose of fried dough, cotton candy, fried clams etc and do a little people watching at the same time. It’s the horses and the animals that I really go to the fair to see. This drawing is a Haflinger, a horse breed that originated from Austria and northern Italy with an ancestry dating to the Middle Ages.
