Studio Improvements – Part One (drawing table)

New Studio Photo 2

I decided several weeks ago I wanted a larger drafting table to work at.  I’ve been thinking of working on some larger paintings in the coming months and realized my existing table would not give me adequate space.  Here’s a photo of it.  My clever husband built a new work space that is 4 feet by 6 feet in size.  Wow.  What a difference it makes.  A little bit of re-arranging to get the “creative zone” set up and I’m ready to get to work in the coming new year.  Who am I kidding?!  Of COURSE I’ve already begun using it!  I have to admit, it was with a certain amount of sentimental feeling that I folded up my trusty old table (which now seems so tiny!) and put it in storage.  There were many years creating art accompanied by all those moments of self-doubt, self-discovery, joy and sweat equity on that drafting table.  A fellow artist is going to take it and I’m glad to see it will continue to be used by someone who needs it.
