Drawn to Nature-Sketch #13 (snow shoe hare)

snow shoe hare drawingBeing a lifelong reader, one of my favorite past-times is to curl up with a good book.  My reading tastes are rather wide ranging and eclectic but can also depend on whether or not a particular author has grabbed my undivided attention.  Another favorite past-time is my daily walk, part of which brings me past an area with large open fields bordered by old stone walls edged in thick brambles and brush before the forest take over.  I’ve been seeing snow shoe hares in this area and every time I’d see one, it got me thinking about the book, “Watership Down” by Richard Adams.  If you’ve not read it, it’s a story about rabbits and is meant for young adults but somehow I never read it.  I decided to remedy this oversight by picking up a copy of it and, well… I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.  It was that good.  The book and the rabbits seen along my walks have inspired me to create some artwork of rabbits this week.
