I created this little painting of tomatoes at the request of the Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network (W.R.E.N.), a non-profit organization that creates and supports markets for entrepreneurs and serves as a national model for rural and economic community development, among other things. Using models out of my own garden, I wasn’t sure if I could come up with something that would work for them, but gave it my best effort and then decided I would also donate the original art. I’m happy to report WREN is delighted with it and plans to use it for promotional and fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Local Works Farmers Market here in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. I’m thrilled to see my art used in efforts that encourage the expansion of this “growing” enterprise in my local community. Oh, and… no tomatoes were harmed in the making of this painting; however, they were eaten with gusto and thoroughly enjoyed in a salad later.
