“Eye Of The Beholder” (great horned owl art)

great horned owl paintingHere is another new painting to come off my drawing table.  This painting is headed to the Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont for my space in the current Legacy 2012-2013 Exhibition.  I find the eyes of owls so expressive and mesmerizing, with the great horned owl holding the top spot in this regard.  They blend in so well with their environment and suddenly those immense yellow eyes seem to glow brighter as they focus on you or something else moving around near their perch.  I’ve read that the great horned owl is the most successful predator in the owl family found in America.  And, to my way of thinking, it’s also one of the most beautiful and interesting of the owls to create a painting!
