Painting Big in The Studio (Spirit of Elk painting)

paint brushes photoI said I was going to paint larger this year and you can see from the photo here that I’m certainly doing this in a big way, if the new paint brushes are any indication.  Whoa!  I finished the first sketch of a red elk for my upcoming show, “The Wild Within” and it’s a little over 3 feet long and almost 2 feet high.  I’m learning to use a “grid” method of drawing the sketch, which is pretty darn clever of the person who came up with this idea.  Makes the whole thing a bit easier when you can concentrate on one section at a time.Elk WIP2  I’ve erased the grid lines and I’m ready to start painting.  Wish me luck!  And check in next week for images of my progress on this new painting.  So far, so good…
