Springtime at Nature’s Way Studio

This past month has seen an increase in birds and animals either coming out of hibernation or migrating back to their “summer” homes.  The pond around our house is definitely getting busy with bird activity.  I saw a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings (a life bird for me!) as well as the first Osprey and a pair of Red-tail Hawks for the year.  Robin 1There seems to be an abundance of American Robins too, which are feeding in the Sumac tree grove.   The squirrels are out and doing a little maple sugaring of their own.  They chew into the bark of the maple tree until the sap leaks out and go back the next morning after a cold night has hardened the sap into a hard sugar drop.  We aren’t the only ones who enjoy maple sugar candy!squirrel spring 2016  Time to get the tent set up on the edge of the pond for photo opportunities.  I took several excellent photos of the the Bohemian Waxwings before they moved on and already have an idea for a painting later this year.  I’ve even got a title too…”Bohemian Rhapsody”.  Look for it in the coming weeks!
