Once April comes along, it’s time to get my camera gear together and head out for any photo opportunities I might have. If I’m clever enough to hide in a good spot, there are all kinds of birds to photograph in and around the pond near my studio. In fact, it’s just teeming with activity as the bird migration gets into full swing beginning in mid March and through May. First the geese and ducks show up and then various songbirds as the weeks go by. Since I’m not in the studio, not a lot of painting is getting done but I’m acquiring all sorts of reference material for future artworks. And being outdoors in warm weather after a long winter is a welcome respite. That in itself is inspiring and gets those creative juices flowing when a particularly good image is obtained.
