I’ve been spending time in a blind with my camera, hoping one of our resident barred owls might make an appearance. It’s set up near where we frequently hear and see them but no luck so far. However, sitting there got me to thinking about owls in general and wanting to paint something new. This week, the “something new” on the drawing table is a snowy owl. Yes, I’m still having a love affair with these beautiful creatures and continue to find inspiration and joy in creating paintings of owls. I haven’t done a snowy owl in a while so thought I’d give it a go this week. Here’s my progress so far. The next step will be painting the eyes of the owl… always the most important feature for me. I paint the eyes first because if those don’t come out right, then it’s all over. Wish me luck and stay tuned for the next work in progress images!
